I got into local politics because it was obvious that things were not working.
I'm committed to changing that
My priorities
01
Effective local representation
For too long, residents voices have not been heard. Local government inertia has been a barrier to progress. I’m committed to standing up for your rights and making sure your voice is heard. Ensuring that other local authorities (ESCC for example) meet their commitments to Crowborough South East is also high on the list!
02
Financial & fiscal prudence
We all pay taxes and it’s important that those charged with spending our money do so in a way which delivers best value services that improve the communities in which we live. Waste on vanity projects and ideological follies needs to stop.
03
Planning and housebuilding
Wealden has been subjected to some terribly destructive planning decisions in the past. These have eroded the AONB and continue to cause upset to residents. I’m committed to ensuring that decisions are taken for the right reasons and only after rigourous analaysis of the applications.
04
Scrutiny and critical challenge
I’m committed to ensuring that the Council decisions are vigorously scrutinised. The Cabinet decisions and officer led processes need to be examined at every stage to ensure they’re resulting in outcomes that benefit residents of Wealden.
